Description of Experience:
I have been working and arranging for CME surgical visits in Solomon Islands for the past 3 years. The medical services need upgrading. There is no CT scanner but the surgeons are skilled, dedicated and diligent. They wish to establish regular CME and professional exchanges with US doctors. There is much work to be done in Solomon Islands. The surgeons are skilled and dedicated, infrastructure at NRH is satisfactory. There is no surgical care available in the provincial hospitals. Over 50% of the population is pediatric. I have repaired patent urachus, branchial cleft cyst, thyroglossal duct cyst, pediatric hernias and many foreign body extractions. There are imperforate anus and tracheal-esophageal atresias as well.
